Harassment — Oct. 1
An unknown Instagram account spread rumors about a female student. Police determined the behavior was not considered criminal harassment and referred the student to campus resources.
Stalking/Harassment — Oct. 2
A female student reported that a person she had previously been in past contact with was requesting to meet. She felt the behavior was stalking. Police found no criminal elements and referred the case to Title IX.
Harassment — Oct. 3
A female student reported that an ex-friend requested her to return items allegedly stolen over six years ago. Police determined there was no probable cause for a crime and advised her on options for filing a restraining order.
Hit and Run — Oct. 3
A student returned to their vehicle in the lot behind Roos field and found damage to their passenger side. There were no witnesses or suspects.
Argument — Oct. 4
Police responded to an argument over a tailgate parking spot at the EWU football game. The situation was already resolved by EWU staff when officers arrived.
Administrative — Oct. 5
A man who had been previously trespassed from campus requested a law enforcement escort in order to complete administrative tasks.
Hostile Conduct — Oct. 6
A reporting party was concerned about a male student who appeared upset during an argument on campus. The incident was referred to Student Rights and Responsibilities and handled internally.
Liquor Violation — Oct. 7
A Synamacut resident was drinking, fell, and hit their head. It became a medical call, and the resident was transported to the hospital.
Suspicious Person — Oct. 8
A student reported a man in his 40s who appeared intoxicated and was causing a disturbance on campus. Officers could not locate him, and no crime was found.
Motor Vehicle Theft — Oct. 9
An electric scooter was stolen from the Synamancut bike rack. The lock had been cut. The scooter was later discovered in Spokane and returned to the owner. The Spokane Police Department is investigating.
Vehicle Prowl — Oct. 9
A student reported that between the evening of Oct. 8 and the morning of Oct. 9, their vehicle was entered and items had been rummaged through. Nothing appeared to be stolen. There are no leads.
Burglary — Oct. 8
A third party reported overhearing conversations about a break-in and vandalism, at Dressler Hall during last year’s winter quarter. Some items may have been stolen. There are no suspects or leads.
Voyeurism — Oct. 10
A female reported that while showering in Streeter Hall, a male entered the bathroom and took photos of her. The suspect was described as an Asian student. There are suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact EWU police.
Fraud — Oct. 14
A female student reported that a person she previously knew had been making unauthorized charges on her cards. The case is currently under investigation.
Collison — Oct. 14
The chief of police was involved in a non-injury collision in a police vehicle on the 1700 block of Second Street. Another officer and deputy chief investigated. The case was forwarded to risk management.
Reckless Driving — Oct. 15
A dark SUV was seen speeding up to 45 mph on the walkways between JFK Library and the music building. Officers searched the area but could not find the vehicle.
Theft — Oct. 15
A black North Face jacket was reported stolen from the practice fields. There are no leads.
Theft — Oct. 16
A backpack containing an iPad and laptop was stolen from the football locker room. There are no leads or suspects.
Suspicious Circumstances — Oct. 17
A student reported a female student vaping in a restroom in Hargreaves Hall. Officers arrived and found no one. There are no leads.
Sex Crime — Oct. 17
A female student reported a sexual assault. After investigation it was found that the incident did not meet the legal definition of assault. The case was closed and referred to Title IX.
Reckless Endangerment — Oct. 20
A student reported seeing a female running near the science building and PUB with her pants down and yelling for help. After reviewing camera footage, officers determined the incident involved two juveniles who were playing around.
