Former EWU basketball standout Bogdan Bliznyuk will make his NBA Summer League debut July 6 against the Golden State Warriors on ESPN. The 6’6” guard signed a summer league contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on June 23.

Bliznyuk is the all-time leading scorer for EWU and for the Big Sky Conference, but EWU head coach Shantay Legans says there is much more to his game than just scoring.

“His playmaking ability for other players is really good,” Legans said. “He can score with anybody in the country, but what he does so well is he can make plays for other people.”

The Clippers will have the first shot at Bliznyuk, but all 30 teams will have their eyes on the summer league games.

“He needs one person, one GM, one owner to like his game. One team needs to like him,” Legans said regarding Bliznyuk’s chances of making a NBA roster.

Bliznyuk will be the fourth former Eagle to make an NBA Summer League roster, joining Rodney Stuckey, Tyler Harvey and Jacob Wiley.

Legans said whoever gets to coach Bliznyuk at the next level will be getting a guy they don’t have to worry about on or off the court.

“They’ll be getting a true professional, a guy that really cares about the game, a guy that wants to get better, a guy that’s willing to do the things to get better,” Legans said.

Bliznyuk isn’t the only Eagle in this year’s summer league. Wiley, who played in five games for the Brooklyn Nets last year, signed an NBA Summer League contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Summer League in Las Vegas will take place July 6-17. All 82 games will air live on NBA TV or the various ESPN networks.
