EWU Senior QB Eric Barriere broke the record for most Big Sky player of the week awards.

The EWU football team lost their second game of the season on Nov. 6 to Montana State University, 20-23. Three days after, it was announced by EWU Athletic director Lynn Hickey that EWU offensive coordinator Ian Shoemaker would be resigning. In a statement made by Head coach Aaron Best, Shoemaker’s resignation was due to a personal issue. In the meantime, current wide receiver coach Pat McCann will be intermining as the offensive coordinator.

In a must-win situation in order to clinch a 2021 playoff berth, EWU would prevail against No. 4 ranked UC Davis (7-2), 38-20. The eagles were led by the All-American Quarterback Eric Barriere, threw for 411 yards and added 42 on the ground, which was good enough for him to win his 12th player of the week award, and the sixth time he has won it just this year. Both of these feats are Big Sky records.

Both EWU men’s and women’s basketball teams started this week. Both programs have first year head coaches at the helm: David Riley for the men’s, and Joddie Gleason.

The EWU men’s basketball team started their 2021-22 campaign by visiting the University of Nevada on Nov. 9. The Eagles lost this game 91-76. The Eagles would then go on to lose their second game of the season at UC Davis, whom EWU had not played since 2012.

In their game against UC Davis, four EWU players would reach double figures: Linton Acliese, Steele Venters, Ethan Price and Rylan Bergeson.

The EWU women’s basketball team hosted San Jose State on Nov. 11 for their first game of the season. The Eagles would lose this game 77-67.

EWU would then host their first game of the season against the University of Pepperdine, in which the Eagles would lose 67-48.

Guard Jaydia Martin would lead EWU with 19 total points, and was the only Eagle to reach double figures. On Nov. 10 the EWU athletic department made the decision to require vaccination verification when attending games at Reese Court.
