EWU holds Blue in the Rink hockey game to raise funds for autism

By Ariel Kimbleton, Staff Writer

On Feb. 13 and 14, EWU men’s varsity and JV hockey teams will be playing benefit games in support of autism awareness, treatment and research. The event is called “Blue in the Rink,” in reference to the special-edition, blue jerseys that each team will be wearing.

There will be a silent auction held at each game to win one of these special-edition jerseys. Raffles will also be held throughout the varsity game, and there is a suggested donation of $1 at the door. All proceeds from the event will go to Families for Effective Autism Treatment of Washington.

Bidding for the silent auction will begin at the first game of the event at 2 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the URC Ice Rink.

On both Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m., the men’s JV hockey team will be playing against Central Washington University. Following the game on Saturday, the men’s varsity team will play against Selkirk College at 7 p.m.
